    Thanks for your feedback.

All generations of the iPod nano are compatible with Nike + iPod, but there are important differences between generations. Follow these easy setup instructions to begin using Nike + iPod on your iPod nano.

First, select the iPod nano that you're using below.

Note: Your iPod nano should be set up in iTunes and running the current software version before you get started. If you need help setting up in iTunes or installing your iPod's software, visit Apple's iPod support page.

    Generation 7 iPod nano

The 7th generation iPod nano can be used with the Nike+ Running Sensor (using Bluetooth capabilities) or without (using the iPod nano's built-in accelerometer). Here's how to get started with each method.

Generation 7 iPod nano with Nike+ Running Sensor

Generation 7 iPod nano does not need the Nike + iPod receiver to link with the sensor. It requires only the Nike+ Running Sensor.

    1. Place your sensor in the Nike+ pocket of your shoe. (For tips on sensor placement, see our FAQ on maximizing your sensor's accuracy.)
    2. On your iPod nano's home screen, tap the Fitness icon.
    3. Tap the "i" icon in the lower right-hand corner to access your Fitness Settings.
    4. Input your height and weight (under Personal Info) and select your units of measurement and distance.
    5. Tap "Nike + iPod Sport Kit Sensor."
    6. Toggle the Sensor button to the "on" position.
    7. Tap "Link."
    8. Walk around to activate your sensor when prompted.
    9. When the screen reads "iPod has found the new sensor," you've successfully linked your sensor.

Generation 7 iPod nano without Nike+ Running Sensor

Note: If you have previous linked a Nike+ Running Sensor, before you begin you will need to switch the Sensor button to the "off" position. To do so, please tap the Fitness icon on your home screen, tap the "i" icon in the lower right-hand corner to access Fitness Settings, tap "Nike + iPod Sport Kit Sensor," and toggle the Sensor button to the "off" position.

    1. On your iPod nano's home screen, tap the Fitness icon.
    2. Tap the "i" icon in the lower right-hand corner to access your Fitness Settings.
    3. Input your height and weight (under Personal Info) and select your units of measurement and distance.
    Generation 6 iPod nano

The 6th generation iPod nano can be used with the Nike + iPod Sport Kit (using the Nike+ Running Sensor and the Nike + iPod receiver) or without (using the iPod nano's built-in accelerometer). Here's how to get started with each method.

Generation 6 iPod nano with Nike + iPod Sport Kit

    1. Place your sensor in the Nike+ pocket of your shoe. (For tips on sensor placement, see our FAQ on maximizing your sensor's accuracy.)
    2. Insert the Nike+ receiver in the port on your iPod nano.
    3. On your iPod nano's home screen, tap the Settings icon.
    4. Tap "Fitness" and configure your height, weight, and units of measurement and distance.
    5. Tap "Nike + iPod Sport Kit Sensor Link."
    6. Walk around to activate your sensor when prompted.
    7. When the screen reads "iPod has found the new sensor," you've successfully linked your sensor.

    Generations 1-5 iPod nano

The 1st through 5th generation iPod nano all require the Nike + iPod Sport Kit accessory. These models can record your workout only if the Nike + iPod receiver is inserted in the iPod nano's port and the iPod nano is linked to the Nike+ Running Sensor.

    1. Place your sensor in the Nike+ pocket of your shoe. (For tips on sensor placement, see our FAQ on maximizing your sensor's accuracy.)
    2. Insert the Nike+ receiver in the port on your iPod nano.
    3. From your iPod nano's home screen, navigate to "Nike + iPod Settings" and configure your weight, distance units, and other preferences.

    5. In the Settings menu, select "Sensor Link."
